About Hill Rush
Hill Rush is a browser hill-climb driving game built on a real-time physics engine. Every bump, jump, and landing is simulated — your little car has weight, the wheels grip and slip, and too much throttle on a crest sends you cartwheeling through the air. Pin the accelerator to power up steep climbs, then ease off (or tap the brake) on the way down so gravity doesn't flip you onto your roof. Soaring off a hilltop, you can lean the car mid-air to line up a clean, wheels-down landing — nail a full rotation and you score a flip bonus. Coins are scattered along the course and fuel cans top you up, so the run only ends when you crash, get stuck, or run out of gas. Endless procedurally generated terrain means no two drives are the same. Play with the arrow keys on desktop or big gas and brake pedals on mobile.
How to play Hill Rush
- 1Hold the GAS pedal (or →/D/W) to accelerate, BRAKE (or ←/A/S) to slow down and reverse.
- 2Hit the gas to power up hills — but lift off near the top so you don't flip.
- 3In the air, hold gas to lean back or brake to lean forward and land flat.
- 4Collect coins (5, 25, 100 — and rare 500 jackpots floating high) and grab red fuel cans before you run dry.
- 5Land backflips and big air for bonus coins, then spend everything in the garage on engine, tires, suspension, and fuel tank upgrades.
- 6The run ends if your driver's head hits the ground, you get stuck, or you run out of fuel — hills get steeper the farther you drive!
Tips & strategy
- Momentum is everything: build speed on flats and descents to carry up the next climb.
- Tap — don't hold — the gas on steep downhills to keep the nose from diving.
- Use a hilltop as a ramp: a flip pays +50 coins and big air +25 — but a botched landing ends the run.
- Never pass a fuel can when you're below half a tank — cans refill you completely.
- Later hills are too steep — and fuel cans too far apart — for a stock car. Bank coins and upgrade the engine, tires, and tank to push past them.
- If you start to tip backward going uphill, ease off the gas immediately.
Frequently asked questions
How is the score calculated?
Your score is the distance you drive in metres plus a bonus for every full mid-air flip you land. Coins are a separate currency: everything you collect gets banked after each run and can be spent in the garage on permanent upgrades.
What do the garage upgrades do?
Engine adds climbing power, Tires add grip on steep slopes, Suspension softens hard landings, and Fuel Tank lets you drive farther between fuel cans. Each has five levels, bought with the coins you collect while driving.
Why does my car flip over?
It's real physics — flooring the throttle lifts the front wheels, and launching off a hill too fast lets the car rotate in the air. Feather the gas and use the brake to control your angle so you land on your wheels.
What happens when I run out of fuel?
Your engine cuts out and you'll coast to a stop. Grab the red fuel cans spaced along the track to top up your tank and keep going as far as you can.
Does Hill Rush work on mobile?
Yes. On phones you get large on-screen gas and brake pedals, so you can play the full hill-climb experience with your thumbs.
