2048 is the viral sliding-tile puzzle that took the internet by storm. Slide tiles across a 4×4 grid — when two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one with double the value. Start from humble 2s and 4s and chain your merges all the way to the coveted 2048 tile. Easy to learn in seconds, yet deceptively deep: every swipe matters, and one careless move can lock up your board. Every merge bursts off the board, double and triple merges get called out, and each new biggest tile from 128 up gets its own banner. How to play 2048
- 1Use arrow keys (or swipe on mobile) to slide all tiles in one direction.
- 2When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value.
- 3After every move, a new 2 (or occasionally 4) tile appears on the board.
- 4Keep merging to build bigger numbers — your goal is the 2048 tile.
- 5The game ends when the board is full and no merges are possible.

- Pick a corner and keep your highest tile anchored there.
- Avoid swiping in the direction that moves your big tile away from its corner.

- Don't chase every small merge — think two moves ahead.
